Sms's to short digit numbers failing. Vodacom
I am unable to send sms's to short digit numbers, from my Huawei P9 Lite. On 26/10/2021 I called Vodacom on 082135 to assist me. After being on the phone for more than an hour, the consultant told me he is unable to fix the problem, and he will escalate the issue to higher authority. Query reference no: 1 - ***. On 27/10/2021 I received a call from Vodacom to fix the sms issue. After being on the phone for about 30 minutes I was told the fault cannot be resolved over the phone and that I must take the phone to the Vodacom shop at Springs Mall. I took the phone to the shop on 28/10/2021 and was assisted by a guy called Taz. After a few minutes I heard him saying to another Vodacom employee that he cannot remember how to fix the short digit sms problem. He and this other employee then started a discussion regarding their private issues. A few minutes later this other employee left us alone. While busy on my phone, he (Taz) was every now and then busy on his own phone, reading messages. After about 15 minutes he told me he just want to discuss something with his supervisor. After a short while he came back and told me that his supervisor said that the phone is too old, the problem cannot be resolved. He (Taz) told me I must buy a new phone, or otherwise I must reset the factory settings on the phone, but then I will loose all information on the phone. I asked him if it was not possible for him to download my information and then reset the factory settings. He said " no I cannot help you with that" and gave the phone back to me. I left the shop and went for a breakfast closeby. While having my breakfast I realised all kinds of ringing tones coming through on my phone. This was not normal and after I finished the breakfast I went back to the Vodacom shop for them to fix the settings on the phone that now causes all kinds of ringing tones. The shop was closed, locked and dark inside. Two ladies who work at the shop approached, I asked them why the shop was closed, they said it is loadshedding. I was surprised, all other shops inside the mall were open and the lights were on. Since loadshedding normally takes 3 hours in Springs, I went home. The next day I received an sms message from my doctor, telling me that they have send my account via e mail to the e mail address of my sister because my e mail is having a problem. Then I realised that it is not only strange ringing tones coming through on my phone but also the e mails are not working anymore. So I had to phone 082135 again for them to reset my e mail account.
Bottom line; the vodacom shop at Springs Mall had to fix a short digit sms problem, they did not fix it. They messed up my e mail account and caused all kinds of unusual ringing tones coming through on my phone. This is ridiculous and unacceptable
