SMS Received for a Smartphone I did not purchase.

This is my second complaint this month about Vodacom. This morning at approximately 09:40 this morning I received an SMS stating the following "Congratulations on the purchase of your new smartphone. Recharge with R12 to get 1GB of FREE data valid for 7 days, brought to you by Vodacom. Find out more http://voda.com/retail-promo Opt out STOP to 31118"

I contacted Customer Care, who could not assist me, they then put me through to the Internet Purchasing Department and I spoke to Tshepiso(he wouldn't give me his surname as he says they not allowed to give surnames out-which I think is a load of hogwash as I have in the past obtained a surname by a representative at your organisation).

I have two contracts with you, of which I am cancelling at the end of the month, unfortunately I have to do get a prepaid number in the meantime and am using that number. Tshepiso asked me to verify my banking details. Why verify my banking details if I am calling regarding my prepaid number?!

Three times I had to explain to him that you do not have banking details for me on this number and it is not a contract number, it is a PREPAID number(meaning a simcard that was bought at a shop either at Vodacom or another outlet, WITHOUT opening an account contract) Tshepiso then told me it's simple and we could be done quickly if I just give him the information that he requires and then proceeded to sigh on the phone. Who does that honestly!?

Customer service stinks at Vodacom especially if you are trying to find out if someone is using your same number or is using your identification for ***** to purchase something. I mean I should be the one interrogating you, not the other way around.

If I had purchased something either in store or online, would I be phoning you to query it!!!!!!!!!????????????????

I want this investigated today and want communication today (and I don't mean in email format either, because that is totally unprofessional and makes you look even worse in trying to resolve the issue)

Please also don't put your generated response on here either because that's pain in one's neck.

Received a call from Theo at your Hellopeter.com team. He was very helpful and informative. He explained why I received the SMS and what I should look out for seeing as though I am a prepaid customer. He was also very understanding to my concerns. Was a breath of fresh air, regained some of the loyalty lost during the one phone call.
