Slick sales talk masks the product
I received a call from the sales call centre saying that Vodacom realises that data is expensive, and is offering a special for 5GB data. In all the pitch talk, what was unclear is that the 5GB would not be loaded onto my cell phone, but rather a WiFi ****le.
The way the sales lady looked at my numbers and data usage really gave me the impression that the 5GB would be app**** to my cell number, even labouring the point that the data would not expire until 60 days if it wasn't used compared to now where your 1GB expires after 30 days. All for R199 per month.
Who wouldn't want that loaded to their cell phone, compared to the monopolised rip-off of R149 for 1GB we have to deal with? (even R199 is a ******* for 5GB, but thats a story for another day.) So of course I said yes.
Thus, the sales pitch was focussed on 5GB data which is what I thought I was buying for my phone, but the actual product is a Wifi ****le with 5GB data loaded. The ****le was very quickly thrown in as "oh we'll even give you a free Wifi ****le so you don't need to use your phone as a hotspot."
Only today when the ****les arrived, and then phoning Vodacom to ask when the 5GB would be loaded to my phone and my wife's phone, did it become clear to me that it wasn't for my phone but for the ****les. Guess what Vodacom? I don't need ****LES with 5GB's of data loaded! I don't care that I can connect my phone to it! I want 5GB of data on my CELLPHONE!!!
If I had known I was buying a ****le with 5GB loaded on that, I would not have even entertained the idea!! Who is going to roam around with a ****le in their pocket to connect to when the data on their phone runs out?! Get it together Vodacom!
Furthermore, I already have a ****le with data loaded, which presumably your sales lady would have known as she could see my contracts, so why would I want another one?!! (Like I said before, if you're going to throw in a free ****le for 5GB data on my PHONE I'm not going to complain.)
Therefore the following has occurred -
1. Firstly, you have wasted my time and your time (and money Vodacom). 2. I have cancelled (I have a call ref. number) those two ****le contracts, so RAM couriers can come and collect speedily. You can be sure I will be making several follow up calls to ensure that this contract is cancelled. I do not want wifi ****les or this contract! 3. I no longer trust your slick, fast talking sales team, therefore I have blocked your number ( ********** ) on my device and will be blocking any other sales numbers you may have. Your sales team can contact me... never!
And lastly, there had better not be any additional surcharge to my contracts for cancellation.
