Sim Swap taken 74 hours and still counting...

I did a Sim swap at the Vodashop in Cape Quater on Friday 23 November 2018 at 12:27pm. I received an SMS stating that the Sim Swap was being processed and will be completed at 23/11/2018 15:27:19. I am still waiting! I have spent the weekend fighting with the call centre who's response was "it's showing pending on the system, you must wait 24 hours". Yesterday, after 48 hours, I spoke to someone who said that the sim swap was initiated but not processsed by the store. She said that she could not processses the sim swap but that she can cancel it and re-do it, but then, said I needed to buy a new sim card because the first new sim has been active for more than 24 hours and can no longer be used. So I went off and bought a new sim card from the corner cafe and called back. The call centre checked that sim and said it was also not usable and that I needed to buy a sim card from a Vodacom shop. This morning I bought new sim card number 3 and called the call centre. They said that the original sim swap had not been cancelled so it was preventing them from doing the sim swap. Also the Vodashop that initiated the sim swap were the only ones who could cancel it. They called the Vodashop and promised to call me back. I am still waiting!

Why does a Sim Swap have to take so long? Why does nobody know how to do this? Surely a sim swap is a simple process that happens regularly? Why does Vodacom not care about their customers? I'm not being called back and nobody seems to be attending to this.

Vodacom, are you actually trying to encourage your subscrbers to port out? It would seem so

Today the call centre is telling me that my sim swap is pending confirmation due to suspected *****. What *******! I initiated the sim swap in a Vodacom store with my ID. Why would you possibly suspect *****? Regardless of that, the answer today is the same as every other day... I must wait. Is there nobody that can help get this sorted out?

After 119 hours and 51 minutes the SIM swap is finally complete. It has been 5 days of hell, fighting with a different call centre agent every day and getting a different story every day. Vodacom, you really need to fix your service, there must be a way to keep subscribers updated of progress!
