SIM card not working for 6days now!
Vodacom letting me down once again!!
My sim card has not been working since Saturday. I can only use applications that do not need network connectivity if I’m under WIFI. I’m missing important calls and texts and banking functions are limited.
All this because a Vodacom sales agent decided to put me on a ‘Home Internet Plan’ when I agreed to upgrading my data plan which was expiring. I’ve been on the data package for years and I always get a call when the plan is expiring and the upgrade is always seamless. I’m very disappointed in what has transpired now.
I called Vodacom on Saturday and they advised they will reverse the upgrade and put me back on the initial plan I was on. The agent further advised that I can restart my device Sunday morning and my sim card should then be working. I restarted the phone Sunday Monday and as advised the sim card was connected to the network, no longer showing ‘No Service’. A short couple of hours later the sim card wasn’t working again, can’t make or receive calls, no service.
I called Vodacom again on Sunday, this time I was advised the reversal was cancelled. At this point the after sales department had knocked off and nobody could help me, had to call back on Monday. I called Monday morning and was advised I have to wait up to 7 working days for this error to be corrected. I spoke to an agent name Eddie Khoza, he said he’d call me within 3 days to give me an update. I spoke to him today and still nothings been done. He has tried to help as best as he can but clearly his hands are tied, not much more he can do.
I cannot be inconvenienced because of sales people who only care about making a sale and don’t give customers full information. It makes no sense to put a mobile cellular number on a home internet plan. I am FRUSTRATED, I need my number. If I am not under WIFI then I’m as good as not having a phone. I need to able to make and receive calls. I cannot wait any longer for this to be rectified because of someone else’s incompetence.
Now they can’t retrieve calls and are suggesting the upgrade was done in store BUT I didn’t go to any store, they called me!
They have advised “Our records indicate that a reversal has been submitted, however, to prohibit any double billing, the reversal will only be effective on 1 October 2024.”How is this my problem? Where does that leave me? Do I have to sit with a non-functioning SIM card for the whole month??
I am being inconvenienced because their sales people only care about sales. No thought of compatibility and how their omission of information affects the client…. and there’s no urgency to rectify this.

So thank you for nothing Vodacom. I’ll just hang tight with a non-functioning SIM card for the whole month.
