Sick Of Vodacom

My recent experience with Vodacom is pretty frustrating. I’ve had a Red Package with them for the past 6 years and was paying well over R2000 a month for the contract as I needed unlimited talk time to be able to call without the worry of vodacom billing me R5000 at the end of the month. Which happened more than once.

2 years ago I got a great deal from Cell C and when I requested to cancel my contract with vodacom. They offered me the same contract for R649. Which I was happy to take but also frustrated that they can offer this service at this price while I was paying over R2000 a month for the contract for over 3 years.

I accepted the offer with a new IPhone at a price of R1649. My contract ended after 2 years and since I bought me a new phone cash as it was cheaper than paying it off with vodacom, I assumed my contract would continue at R649 a month for the sim only. However vodacom changed it back to R2000 per month without an upgrade.

I called their customer care after spending more than 30 minutes on the call each time being transferred to different departments because no one can assist me. Their agents are only able to sell me products or upgrade my contract. The upgrade department transferred me to the cancellation department and the cancellation department transfers me to the upgrade department.

The day after the call centre called me again to sell me a new product.

This is deeply frustrating. How are they able to offer me a contract of R649 and then just change it R2000 without any notification? I should add that they never specified that the contract will be charged differently after the 2 years.

I spoke to agent as well about this and I cancelled a data plan I took out 6 years ago. It was a 5gig data plan with router for R200 per month. He couldn’t assist me with my main concern but tried very hard to convince me to keep the data plan for R69 a month.

I am deeply unhappy with this company and being a client for over 15 years with them spending well over R20 000 a year on average with them.
