Shun Vodacom's Contract Deals cut through malpractice and adverse service provision!

Vodacom through its illegitimate agents deserve to be recognized as a trotsi business and shunned for it! This is in lenient terms I can afford against the adverse service and inconvenience I have suffered from Vodacom for years. My last 2024 months contract ran from 1 June 2022 to 30 June 2024. The sales agent (Fikile) said she sold me an uncapped data deal for R449 p/m for 24 months’ duration. However, in the month end of July 2022, the first installment billed was R474.94. On the 21st of July 2022, I called Vodacom and spoke to an agent (Maselelo) who said the service ticket (2-7 days turnaround) to fix this had been logged under ref # & nbsp: *** to a support team for investigation. After 7 days I never had from Vodacom.

From month end of Aug 2022 until end of June 2024, R464 has been billed p/m. In summary, I contacted Vodacom numerous times until the last time I spoke to Andre on the 17th of January 2023 who told me nonsense things like the reason I was being billed R464 instead of R449 was because of VAT. Lastly, he got his team leader who apparently looked into my invoice and then said, R464 was because the contract increased from R449 to R464 and that R464 was the amount I’ll have to keep paying until the contract expires. So, sadly I paid the R464 instead of R449 until the end. What a depraved business Vodacom is with its tsotsi agents. Vodacom owes me and for this malpractice they have not refunded me the extra amounts billed!

On the 26th of November 2024, Zethembiso from Vodacom offered me a R479 p/m home Wi-Fi Black Friday Special data deal. She told me within 7 days Vodacom would deliver the router, and that the new deal will be effective on the 1st of December 2024. On the 28th of November the router was delivered. On the 1st of December the router wasn’t working. So, I was without data. I called Vodacom, after asking many questions the agent said she couldn’t assist me telephonically and then asked me to go to the nearest Vodacom branch to asked help from their technician.

On the 2nd of December via my time and petrol I went to the Vodacom branch and the technician said he couldn’t even begin to assist me since I took the deal via the phone offer, however, he mentioned to his colleague that I wasn’t the first customer walking in with the same issue. On the 3rd of December I called Vodacom and spoke to Themba who transferred me to cancellations. There I spoke to Angel (Mondi/o Mobile), she escalated the matter for reversal and cancellation within 72hrs, this meant Vodacom would refund me and collect their router, and there would be no broken relationship going forward. I have not received a single call from Vodacom informing me about the service progress or the likes. The agent said I am not allowed to return the router myself.

On the 10th of December I received an invoice from Vodacom that they will be billing the R479, and they did although I have not received any data from Vodacom since the end of November. On the 11th of December I called Vodacom and spoke to Amanda for a follow up on reversal and cancellation process. Firstly, she said she there was no reversal, or cancellations done on their system. She said she’ll send an email to Angel for confirmation in case she logged the request via email than system. Finally, she said she’d ring me back within 30 minutes. Until today she hasn’t called me. On the 18th of December I called Vodacom and spoke to Shanea who transferred me to Mpho. Mpho checked and said there was no reversal, or cancellations done on their system and said she would load the request for reversal and cancellations. She too, like all the other agents said there was no call reference number for the call. Until now I have not heard anything from Vodacom. This is undesirable and unfair service and clearly regrettable to be treated like *******. It is terrible to waste one’s time writing about the poor service and Vodacom’s degeneracy. Can I be refunded my monies ASAP so I can move to a data provider who keeps their simple promises.

Dear Vodacom Consumer Website Team,

The consultant you spoke of has not contacted me until now. What date exactly is 'due course'? I need my refund (+/-R1000.00) from Vodacom and confirmation that my number is closed after reversal and cancellation which a professional business would have concluded within a few honest-practice hours.

Unbelievable! Vodacom has just emailed me another month end invoice of the contract that was cancelled within 3 days because their router had no internet. On the 07th of Jan 2025, the Vodacom agent (Pulane) said the contract cannot be reversed and cancelled until the router is collected. From the 3rd of December 2024 and having spoken to more than three Vodacom agents, they have all not arranged the collection of the router. When I told her that Vodacom keeps billing, she coldly said yes Vodacom will keep billing me until the router is collected and the contract reversed, and the number cancelled and only then will they work on refunding me back. I have become a victim of Vodacom, and its agents' pure malpractice. Why did not Vodacom arrange the collection of the device within before 14 days? Why did not even a single Vodacom agent ever call me back to service me rightfully?

Until now Vodacom is still billing me although I have not used any of their data since November 2024. Only today when I called, the agent says the cancellation will be put through, and that’s what all the other agents kept telling me week after week from December until now. The agent confirmed that they will billing me again this month and that from here onward I need to take the route of raising a dispute towards a refund. This is pure wickedness!

On the 3rd of December 2024 (which was within 7 days) I expressly made it clear that I am cancelling the number and Vodacom said not until the router was collected within 7 days, the reversal done the cancellation couldn’t take place., then they said the router will be collected within 7 days, and that I couldn’t courier it back to them. Now it's the fourth month. Since December I have been the only one calling Vodacom to make follow ups and no service from their comfortable side. Each time I speak to a new innocent agent, and each time I need to explain the story afresh, and each time the agents try to make me an offer as per their script, which I decline and the next time, I call, I sadly find out that the contract is not cancelled. But every month the billing is not needing any area of improvement, I am being charged for a service I have made used.

Vodacom may be a big brand, but this treatment has been nothing short of a stench of rot. Their message above says, they called me. Only once did they call and when I was moving to answer the call it was dropped, and the number used could not be called back. The following day I received the call from Vodacom, and I was made to rehe**** the same story, and at the end of the call no solid conclusion (only the same: I’ll go check and disappear- I guess ), and the next time I was called by the agent who sold me the deal initially and made to rehe**** the same story (similarly she disappeared). The router didn’t work, the data was never used, and Vodacom knows it.

Since then, I keep getting the bill at month ends, no update, no, nothing from Vodacom, who is busy identifying areas of improvement from victims such as myself.

When I ask the agents for a way of raising a complain they say there is absolutely no number to call.
Vodacom has become an organized **** business that disguises itself as a mobile communications company. May they be found out and face the bitter consequences for all the ills they have put their victims through.

Oh wow! I have a received an sms saying "You will receive an sms and email with your exact cancellation or conversion date. Until such time, your Vodacom contract cancellation is not confirmed." This is a big shame on Vodacom as a big brand. Why is it too difficult to cancel, why should it take less than 30 minutes to execute the sale but four months and counting to cancel, a deal which never took effect? The answer, is simple, my rights as a customer are being violated by because as it's communicated above: Vodacom is using customers such as myself to "identify areas of improvement within their organization."

Will Vodacom compensate me for the time I have wasted to make communications to them?
Will Vodacom compensate me for the anxieties, stress and bitterness they have put me through throughout all these months?
