Should be rename to Theft pty ltd

I would like to share my terrible experience with vodacoms payments.

I have a debit order to deduct funds from one of my accounts to deduct the money every month on the 1st. Last month I mailed a vodacom customer care agent on the 2nd of May and they confirmed that there was no outstanding funds on my account, meaning that the debit had run and i can remove any money left in the account as I usually transfer R100 more in than nescesairy so i have some money for bank fees. So after this email conversation with Chantelle Zass on the 2nd of May i removed all funds from this account as i was told that there was no outstanding amount.

Vodacom then started contacting me on 17th of May regarding my debit order failing. This was a complete suprise from my end as I had a confirmation that my debit order runs on the 1st of each month and that there was no out standing funds on the 2nd of May. I then proceeded to contact vodacom who confirmed that there was outstanding amount of R458.50. I then phoned vodacom and they told me that the debit order failed since they are not able to debit me on the 1st of the month since the 1st and 2nd were on a weekend and public holiday (even though they were completely able to confirm my debit order runs on the 1st and i had no outstanding funds on the 2nd). Their automated machine kept hounding me for payment until i logged another call on the 19th so that they can rerun the debit order as soon as possible.

I was then called on the morning of the morning of the 20th and told that the debit order will be rerun on the 24th of May. I obviously said this was fine as i wanted to get this sorted as soon as possible (note i was informed of a R100 additional charge due to the first debit order failing on the 3rd). I was then phoned again after that by the automated machine telling me an arrangement has not been met with vodacom. In which i called the vodacom customer care centre again and was told that no arrangement had been made.

I then decided to take matters into my own hands and do an EFT payment. After 2 hours of struggling and speaking with 2 different consultants (one which was under the impression that my bank would need to give me vodacoms account number in which to pay the money to) I managed to set vodacom up as a benificiary. While on the call i confirmed what the outstanding balance to be paid is and was told R466.78 (not including the R100 for the failed debit order which i assumed then only happens after the 2nd debit would fail, but clearly this second debit would not run as "the arrangement was not made"). I immediately paid the amount and mailed the proof of payment to *** at 13:03PM as per instruction from the person assisting me. Then pleased that my side has been paid and i could relax I left the issue.

Until my account got cut off at 5 o clock on the 20th. I immediately contacted the customer care to enquire about this. They then informed me that they had not yet received the Proof of Payment and I would need to resend it (completely possible with an suspended account). I then told them to recheck. I was informed that they will and it would take about 15 minutes to 2 hours before my service would be re-instated. My service was only re instated the morning of the 21st.

I then left this completely as i assumed my side was in the clear.

So this morning (its now the 1st of June) I woke up and saw that R658.50 has been debited by vodacom. I then called vodacom and after a long fight with Neo I was informed that a second debit had run and failed on the 24th (even after i paid on the 20th) and thus the 2 failed debit orders resulting in the additional R200 (sorry Neo. I was very upset after i struggled so long the previous month to get this resolved).

I then asked to speak to a manager and was informed they were all in a meeting until after 11 o clock and there is no senior available to resolve this issue. I am now waiting for them to call me back so i can have them tell me why they ran the 2nd ("not arranged") debit order after I had paid the first.

I have never had this much trouble with paying anyone in my life. I have been a loyal vodacom customer since i got my first phone at the age of 12 (paid for by my parents) and honestly after all this I am disgusted at the service provider I have been loyal to for the last 10 years of my life.

Reviewer Update

Good day. Just an update. Vodacom had contacted me after that and promised to credit me the amount the debit orders cost me extra. When my debit order ran this month it was as they said it would be, I'm happy with how they resolved this.
