Shocking Service and Impossible Cancellation Process
On 15 October 2024, Vodacom contacted me with an upgrade offer. My contract had expired, and they convinced me to accept a R150 monthly airtime contract. Realizing it was a bad deal, I immediately attempted to cancel during the cooling-off period. The cancellation process, however, was a nightmare.
After sending an email to customer service, I was informed that it was ineffective. Calling the designated cancellation number only made things worse. The background noise was intolerable, making communication nearly impossible. Despite confirming my details and explaining my request, the first agent couldn’t assist and transferred me without warning. The next agent, in an equally noisy environment, was rude and unhelpful, refusing to copy me on an email to another department. She finally gave me a reference number after much frustration, but I’m still waiting for SMS confirmation of the cancellation.
I would not be surprised if Vodacom now cancels this number that was used for the past 20 years, out of spite!
Vodacom’s cancellation process is intentionally difficult, and their service is absolutely appalling.
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to deal with such an obstructive system. If they mess this up further, I'll be going to the opposition (MTN) with both this and the other numbers I have with Vodacom!
UNBELIEVABLE, isn't it?!
Vodacom can send this SMS, but not the confirmation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
