Shocking experience

Some of the worst after sales service I have ever experienced. Me and my husband went into a Vodashop during December (after the black Friday madness) to get new phones. After taking the advice from the sales ladies we settled on two HiSense Infinity H50's. At first there were some small things that we found irritating but we could deal with it. Things like the fact that it did not come out with a built in QR app or Weather app.

But then we also started realising things about the phone, the battery life was very poor, at best we could get half a day before we had to recharge, from a full charge before we go to bed to 80% or 70% when we wake in the morning!!

The wifi would automatically switch off and go to mobile data continually during the day... at hour house and office were we have Fibre!! This has cost us a fortune in data as the phone switches over and first takes all our data and does not use the wifi!!

If we phoned a switchboard the phone would either drop the call or we would not be able to choose an option to proceed. Calls to our phones would often be dropped or the people on the other side would not be able to hear us.

On occasions the phones would say there was an error involving something called "Quickstep" and then would be completely frozen to the point that you could not even switch it off!! We would have to wait for the phone to die from a flat battery before we could restart it... luckily that didn't take too long due to the battery life not being good.

If you did dare use the phone for longer than 30min the battery would overheat to the point that we had to put it in the fridge because we were afraid that it would explode.

And the best part is that even the calculator does not work!!! Any calculation that involves the % button calculates incorrectly... this is extremely concerning because it makes you wonder if they could not even programme the calculator correctly what else on the phones programming is not working? And while I know that this is petty it is still something completely basic on the phone that does not work!!! Would you be happy if you bought a brand new car and the indicator does not work?

The final straw was when my husbands screen separated from the phone!!! He didn't drop it, it just came loose!! He took his phone in and they admitted there was a bad batch and after a bit of back and forth they gave him a new phone (of the same brand and model). He used this for about two weeks but he was still not happy as the new phone still had all the other issues as the old phone. He approached the shop and they agreed to exchange the phone for a different brand phone in the same price range.

When I approached them to exchange mine they refused... the reason... I did not have the box the phone came in!!! Nobody informed me that I had to keep the box to be able to bring the phone back if there was something wrong with it! The Consumer Act says that with a cellphone people have the right to bring the phone back within six month if there is a fault on it or they are not happy with its performance. Nowhere does it say you need the box it came in. Infact, if you take your phone for repairs at vodacom they tell you not to bring the assessories or box in, they just want the phone.

There is a serious flaw with the Hisense Infinity H50, it crosses everything from its hardware performance to its basic software and they are refusing to exchange it for a different brand of phone because I do not have the box it came in!!! This is complete idiocy and it feels more like they are using every far fetched excuse they can to not exchange the phone.

After sending vodacom customer care a email, the reply was even more shocking. Vodacom, who is a telephone company can not make a call due to technical issues.Screenshot 2022-03-12 at 18.31.39.png 219.72 KB

Your system is incorrect. I am still waiting for a callback, 3 days later and no phonecall....
