Shocking data billing from Vodacom

In the last month we received a shocker when Vodacom attempted to debit a bill of R14995.00.

We went to the Vodashop in Cresta to query this billing. After waiting to be served and with a agent so helpful he was sitting sleeping while holding on for assistance. Eventually he passed the phone and after close to 45 min we were told HQ was offline. Also a typical response when ever a need arise to explain something. They took a telephone number and said they will phone back as we came to expect no call back.

This morning we drove through to Vodacom HQ hoping to get a resolution. What s waste of time andyou fuel 3 hours later no resolution. First we sat waiting for close to one hour. There after they wouldnot assist because the account holder didnt have an id doc with her. We pressed why authentication canbe done on a phone but why notifyou are face to face( Rule so they have not to deal with customers face to face) .Eventually he did do the checks and got going. The normal Vodacom responce was our smartphones auto update. Not the case all phones set to request permissions to do any related updates and internet connections through the Wifi. Then the next was smart phones sync and backs up over wifi. No such needs again set to request permissions. The next was the router updates its apps never heard of this one. This not working the best one was we have an open line and not a pay as you go. Again we have not allowed for any additional funds to go out of bundle. This not working the next was that when we are down loading law requires they can not disconnect the download and must continue. Again with this not working the next was down loading movies and music has large data needs. We kept on refuting their claims and eventually with no more excuses, he offered an itimized bill and no we have not recieved one before today.

The fact what Vodacom looses sight of is that we have never exceeded our limits allocated in the years we owned this line. We have been soft locked previously and after the fact. They claim they have sent a sms to the router. How do you read an sms on a router. They have a fair usage policy and history with us and they should have stopped usage when they observed high data usage for investigations. Especially in light that we have no funding allocated above the contracted amount.

Nothing they have claimed today makes any sense as we have always kept below our limits and if so we have been soft locked. In this case nothing if any of their claims could be substantiated with any facts they were just using a shotgun blast to see what who gets wounded.

People must not just believe Vodacom does honest business. I have a data card of 100GB in my phone and it is open for my phone to use. I have also a mobile wifi hotspot that friends and family have connected to for updates and down loads and it is not at home. My smartphone is constantly connected and in 3 months I have not used up 12 GB. Lets see the next excuse Vodacom can come up with.
