Shame on Vodacom Corkwood Mall
Last week, 21 November 2022 I went to Vodacom at Corkwood Mall, Uitenhage to ask if they could assist me with my son's phone which needed a battery. The consultant phoned someone to assist me. A few minutes later a man walked into the office and he offered his help. I was given a choice of a cheap battery or a quality battery. I agreed on a good quality battery. It was promised that the phone would be ready the next day and left with a handwritten receipt done by the Vodacom employee. The next day I was told that there was another problem with the phone. I confirmed that it could be fixed. The next morning I was told that I should come later the afternoon, since the phone wasn't ready. I was offered a second hand phone, of which the specs wasn't confirmed after I asked for it. My son turned it down since he wasn't interested. Saturday I went again to check on the phone and was once again offered another phone. i told the guy that my son is not interested. Sunday morning I went to fetch the phone but the man wasn't available yet. I asked my son's father to fetch the phone later and when he had time to stop at the shop, the power was off and the offices closed. That was about 12 o clock. Monday morning his father attempted again to fetch the phone. He was now told by this person that the phone was ****** in the workshop somewhere else. I went to meet up with the person and my sons father. He took us to a cell shop next to the Vodacom shop and offered us another phone to replace the ****** one. I wasn't interested and left. My son rejected the phone because it didn't had the same features as his phone. I drove to the police station and enquired about the so called brake in or burglary in town. The police had no knowledge of this. They escorted me to the shop. The person could not confirm the address of the workshop where the phone was ****** and he claimed that it was ****** Friday. I don't understand why he never notified me of the loss of my phone. Worse of all, it came to light that this person was selling his products in this Vodacom shop and were used as a so called technician in the shop, but I am not sure how this works, since he is not an employee of this Vodacom shop. I assumed he was since he was phoned to assist me and other clients and he was at times sitting behind a desk if I went to enquire about my phone. I asked the consultant who assisted me, why they never told me that this man was not an employee, whom he phoned to assist me and he told me I should not have assumed. So now this is my fault, assuming a person fixing phones and sitting behind a desk in a Vodacom shop is not necessarily employed by Vodacom! This is so unprofessional! I have totally lost my trust in your company and will never recommend you to any person. And to top it all! My son has lost his phone due to this and we must be happy about it and buy another "what ever phone is offered" to keep the peace and you can carry on with this unprofessional business behavior. What a shame!!!!
