Set yourself up for problems if you sign up with Vodacom!

I signed a contract with them, but have been having problems all the way: 1. Almost impossible to reach them, as they don't reply to e-mails sent. 2. My data disappears the whole time, I get up at night so I can use the 'night owl' data, when I download all my videos and large images, so my anytime data might last longer, yet it always seems to be insufficient. Looking at the usage, there are sites listed which I never visit, and things like gaming that I never do. That equals THEFT! 3. I purchased extra data once (definitely a once-off purchase), and now they already deducted the amount TWICE. 4. Logging in and checking data usage, it only shows total usage, so it's actually impossible to check up, because my package includes half daytime / anytime, and half "night owl", which I always use to download most images and videos. So my nighttime usage should be much more than daytime usage, but looking at their statistics, I always end up depleting anytime data and only use 1-3 BG of my 20 GB 'night owl' data - that is a total LIE, but in the statistics it is combined, so I cannot prove it. But I know what I use! 5. The SIM is in a router so I can use it on my computer, so I cannot receive any messages to that number. I repeatedly gave my cellphone number as well as my e-mail address so alerts for usage could be sent to it (when I log in, it is THERE on my profile). Yet they keep sending alerts to the SIM which cannot receive messages, so repeatedly I run out of data at the most crucial moments ...

Four days down the line, and nothing yet of the promised follow-up. Something else that I want to add (which I accidentally left out in my original review) is that for the only extra data which I purchased, I was overcharged (deducted from my bank account) by > 35%. When they deducted it for a second month, they deducted the original amount I had purchased - but I only purchased it once-off, so that means they deducted 135% MORE than what I purchased. This has now been going on for more than two months, without them responding to my e-mails.

Almost 2 months later, and STILL waiting for Vodacom to respond. And EACH month the extra money gets deducted for something I did NOT request. I am SUPER FRUSTRATED!!

On the 5th of January 2021, after I had not yet received any response from them, I lodged a formal complaint at https://complaintsdb.com/file-a-complaint, hoping that they'd wake up. I received their automated reply that I'd be contacted within 1-2 business days, but now 22 days have again passed, without anyone responding in person.

The above situation continues … Now roughly a thousand rand had been deducted *******ly, and it just continues. I went to a branch nearby, and the lady there contacted them and then confirmed that the ******* deductions (which they say I had activated, but that is a lie) had been stopped. Then one month the deductions were correct, and then it started again with the extra amount. Eventually someone responded to my e-mail, and told me that the recurring bundle had, indeed been stopped, BUT that I had apparently then activated it again …!!! She said I'd done so via my SIM card. Such utter nonsense and blatant lies, and I am definitely the only person that has access to my SIM card! I also have not had anyone follow up on my official complaints at the complaints board. I'm looking forward to the end of my contract (unfortunately more than a year to go), after which I'll NEVER make use of Vodacom again. STAY AWAY FROM ANY CONTRACT WHEN THEY ARE INVOLVED!!!

After many months of frustration I eventually managed to make contact with someone who then canceled the unasked-for data, and my bill is now back to what it should be. But all the money that was deducted without my consent (more than a thousand rand) is my loss ... One can just as well talk with a brick wall. The moment my contract is over, Vodacom won't ever see me again!

I already reviewed them previously, and the wrongful deductions of >R1 000 was never credited to me, but eventually I completed the 2 year contract, and cancelled it. They promised me wonderful packages if I would continue with them, but fortunately I did not fall for it. The agent confirmed that no further deductions would be made, and that the debit order would be cancelled from their side. I even received a cancellation number, but the next month they deducted the full premium again. Tried contacting them, but they ignore my e-mails and won't accept calls from the phone because it's no longer on contract (they automatically changed it to pre-paid on completion of the contract). Now I'll have to pay R45 via my bank to lodge a dispute re. the deduction. There may be honourable agents working for them (those I interacted with, all spoke kindly), but somehow there is a major FLAW or DELIBERATE CHEATING in the Vodacom system. I consider them equal to *******! STAY AWAY FROM VODACOM!!!
