Selling bad phone and poor after care from Vodacom
I previously wrote a complained about Vodacom and a phone I purchased with poor service. Here is my original complained:
"I have purchase a Samsung A30 cell phone on the 10th of May 2019 from Vodacom, Bluff Branch. It was a Mother day’s present, but sad to say it turned out to be all but a mother’s day gift. The battery life was not very good and the battery got flat within a few hours after no use. I’ve contacted Vodocom to raise my dissatisfaction and decided to book the phone in for repairs on the 24th of May. They send the phone to their Vodocom repair centre. I informed them that I was not satisfied. I have now been informed by the repair centre that the phone is out of warranty and that I should pay for the repairs before I can get the phone back. I am now even more disappointed as I have provided Vodacom with all the proof of purchase and now it seems that they sold me an old phone with problems. The customer’s services at Vodacom Bluff is also not very helpful in sorting the phone out. I have been struggling from the onset with a faulty phone and now I have been without one going on nearly 2 weeks. What was supposed to be a mother’s day gift has now just become a frustration. I am really disappointed with Vodacom and do not think they behave very ethically and in line with the consumer act"
Since then I received the phone back on the 06 June 2019, However within one day of use I realized that the original problem with the battery was not resolved as I had to charge it twice that day after only sending a few whatsapp messages. I took it back to the branch I purchased it from (Vodacom Bluff) on the 08 June 2019 and re booked it for repair. On the 19 June 2019 they phoned me and told me my phone was ready for collection. when I got to the store they said that the battery had been replace. Upon inspecting the phone at the store I noticed that the screen guard that was brand new and cost R199 was removed, I asked them to replace the screen guard and was told that I will have to buy a new one as they do not guarantee against that and it needed to be removed in order to replace the battery, I then also noticed that the phone was scratched (it was in perfect condition when it was send in). I refused to take it and requested they repair / replace or credit me money back. I also asked them for their Head office number so I could lodge a complained and they refused to give it to me. They then booked it back for repair. On the 24 June I contacted the repair center to enquire about the phone and was informed it was not send in yet and was still at the Vodacom store. This is quite unacceptable and really poor service.
In my view this in not a new phone anymore, since the phone went in twice for repair, the battery already had to be replaced, now the back cover will have to be replaced, and I only had it for 2 weeks.
I would rather have them credit me the money for the phone back (I do not want the same phone) and will buy a new one / a different phone and pay in what ever the difference will be.
