Rose?
Something very strange happened. My home internet is due for upgrade. I am currently on a package that gives me 20mbps speed for R780 per month. I looked online and saw that if I upgrade I can get 100mbps speed for R499 per month, modem included. This sounds fantastic. Instead of applying online I thought I'll phone Vodacom the following morning. I spoke to an upgrade consultant by the name of Rose and asked for a 100mbps upgrade wothout a modem and was told that it would cost me R999 per month. I of course argued that I saw the same deal online for half that amount. She told me that it was a special that was running the early part of the previous month and that it's no longer available. Eventually I hung up since I was not willing to pay more even if it was for a higher speed. Later the day I again decided to look online and found the same deal still available online for R499. This time I decided to apply online to see how far I would get before the sytem tells me its no longer available. But, I managed to complete the full upgrade online for seemingly R499. I was worried that I made a mistake and after I completed the order, I again phoned the upgrade dept and again reached Rose. She could not verify me because I did not know what my Vodacom account number was. I lost my cool and hung up the phone and dialed again. This time I reached another consultant who managed to verify me without asking my vodacom account number and she could also confirm that I indeed app**** for the correct packege which will cost me R499 per month. Now I wonder, what is Rose and Vodacom trying to do, and is it on purpose or simply ignorance on the part of Rose?
