My colleague is disabled. He cannot hear not speak. He receives a message from vodacom saying “ Your cellphone has been barred from making outgoing calls and it has been reported ******. Please contact Vodacom customer care on 082 135 to unlock your cellphone.” I call the number spoke to Violet she tells me it’s a mistake the phone is not ****** but the number is blocked. She can see on the system it was done from the store. She can’t tell me which store and I must go to any vodacom store to have it unlocked. Now I’m asking how did this happen. How is it possible that someone went to a store and blocked his number, aren’t they supposed to check the ID he has this number for 3 years now. She says she doesn’t know it’s the store and I must go there. I explain to her that he is disabled, he is at work in Lansdowne he now needs to go all the way home to Surrey Estate to fetch his ID and then all the back to KC Kenilworth Centre which is the closest store and then back to work. Who is going to compensate him. Also we both had to get take hours off from work and go sort this. It’s a huge inconvenience. She says well there is nothing she can do. I asked to speak to a supervisor, spoke to supervisor unfortunately didn’t get her name she tells me there is nothing they can do. I tell ok if u can’t get me someone else she refuse to. She says he manager is Hayley she is not there and even if she was she won’t help “no one can help me..” she then goes on and on about unblocking the phone and I told her that I understand she can’t unblock the phone and that I needed to go to store but I’m not asking her to do that. What I am asking is what are you or your manager or vodacom going to do to compensate him and me for the inconvenience caused as well as the expenses incurred. She says nothing. I say he is disabled. She well there is nothing they can do to unlock the phone. I told her I know she can’t unlock the phone but I want compensation she says no. Then she talks over me I trying to make her understand that I am not asking her to unlock the phone but I want compensation she says I am being condescending and if I don’t stop she is going to disconnect the phone and she did. Wow!!!! This is vodacom for you. So now I am waiting for a response from vodacom regarding this hello peter as I am taking things further. I’m going to the ombudsman and the papers as while his phone was not working his baby got sick and they could not get hold of him. I’m going to expose this joke of a company.
