ROAMING COSTS OF R120 000.00 for 900MB!!!
VODACOM IS THE WORST PROVIDER EVER!!! MINUS 100 STARS!
My son has started working in Haiti in the Carribean Isands as a pilot on +-23 August 2018. He immediately bought a simcard to use in Haiti. After 4 weeks in Haiti, he had to fly to the Dominican Republic for 3 days. There his Haiti simcard would not work and he had to replace it with his South African simcard again, as he has to be in contact with his employers at all times. He stayed in a hotel with free wi-fi. He made sure that he only used his phone when he was in the wi-fi area. When he returned to Haiti after 3 days he started to use his Haiti simcard again. Apparently the few days that he had used his Vodacom simcard, he used 900mb, which has, without him knowing it, amounted with a Vodacom roaming bill of +R120 000.00.
There has been no direct contact with him or myself as the contract holder to inform us of this unacceptable and unreasonable amount. For R150 you can buy 1GB data in South Africa, how is it possible that for 900MB of data the account is R120 000.00? On the 23rd of September 2018 all our lines started to be soft blocked. Every time this happened, about 8 times up to 5 October 2018, I contacted Vodacom and asked to see why we get soft blocked. Never once did they inform me that it was because of roaming costs for CELL ********** 885. If they did from the 1st call this huge account could have been stopped. Each time they went into the account to see what the problem was, each time they said they do not really see anything wrong and opened the lines again. Why open the lines every time without taking action regarding the huge account for the said number. Also, as I understand, if Vodacom encounters high usage on an account, especially roaming, they block the usage for ********** investigation. Please see the Vodacom unveilment of a security feature to protect customers by locking a sim card if any irregular activity is detected. Why did they keep this line open without investigation? I am the account holder of this account and nobody even tried to contact me. Vodacom did block us but always opened the lines again after I contacted them, without me knowing why we are getting soft-blocked. I am unhappy that not even one of your Vodacom people could tell me what the problem was. Even asked to speak to a supervisor and even he did not pick it up. Please look up how many desperate calls I made to Vodacom where, every time they unblocked the line but made no further effort to find out why the line was blocked.
900mb was used and then an account for R120 000 from Vodacom???
About 3 weeks after I have put in a dispute, I was phoned by Leroy from Vodacom on 29 October 2018 and he confirmed that Vodacom will credit the account with R88000.00, with the remainder of R33 000.00 to be paid to Vodacom, which we have paid already.
Even R33 000.00 is an outrageous amount but he had to pay it to keep the lines open.
After 2 months, on 18 December 2018, our account was blocked again …... the reason was that Vodacom has not yet credited my account with the R88000.00 as agreed. I called Vodacom and they said that on their side that this dispute has not been resolved!!!
How can Vodacom contact me 2 months ago to confirm the credit of R88000.00 but nowhere is it confirmed on my profile. My lines get blocked because of someone that did not follow through to the accounts department and did not do their job properly. After many angry calls to Vodacom they looked into it and found that Leroy never gave this credit note through to the accounts department.
Vodacom has unblocked the account but I keep on getting messages that the account will be blocked if the R88000.00 is not paid within 7 days, thus the amount is still on my account!
100's of hours spent on the phone to Vodacom and still no response from Vodacom, only promises on promises by numerous supervisors that they will sort this out, but no one has come back with any answers. I am extremely frustrated with Vodacom. I need the credit show on my account immediately as I have struggled with Vodacom long enough regarding this issue.
This lady as well as numerous others have done nothing to resolve this matter. In the meantime my credit record is affected as the account still shows that it is in arrears.
