*********** the tourists

I recently purchased a R209Z from the Vodacom shop at Oliver Tambo Airport when I arrived home to visit my family. I was informed about the choice of 2 boxes, a 3G device for R2000 or a 4G at R3000. I purchased the 3G device as I remarked it was expensive the shop assistant sold me the wifi box, sim and data for R2000. Which made the cost of the phone R1746 still expensive when I discovered the same box retailed at R839, which without the discount makes it a R1061 difference and its R749 online. How do they justify that. I know certain areas are more expensive but surely not this expensive.

There are no returns or refunds when I went back to speak to the manager who wasn't there. His explanation via email was they follow NCA policy and it's not a direct Vodacom shop but has a big vodacom sign and that the pricing is different but surely not that much more. Also I could get vat back at the airport but it is a present for my mom so she can Skype me as I'm a South African living abroad
I'm so annoyed how blatantly our tourists are getting ********** and they don't even realise it. As a consumer should I accept this as wasn't happy with feedback

Regards,
Mandy Rosenbaum
