On the 19th Dec I went to the Bayside (Cape Town) Vodashop to do a sim swap and got a new sim card and told them I'm using a prepaid. The following day when I checked after 12h00 it wasn't working and decided to call 082111 and was told the swop has been done I must wait for 3hrs it should be fine.In the evening it still didn't work and the following morning the 21st Dec I called the Vodashop and was told that apparently my sim is on contract so I should come and fetch another sim card and I told them that I used to be but not any more, I'm on prepaid and have been buying data and airtime so this is not possible. I also asked why was I not contacted because I left my other contact number for me to be contacted. I then called the 082111 again to find out because it didn't make sense as I've been buying airtime and was referred to Dineo who then said yes I'm on prepaid but because I used to be on contract then Vodacom still keeps my details as such but they can see that I'm prepaid. She tried to assist and even called me back and the sim still didn't work. I asked her to check if the sim that is showing from their side is the one I was given at the shop and when she checked it wasn't, which meant that the Vodashop didn't activate the sim they gave me so it was all useless for Dineo to assist. I then went to the Vodashop again and was told I must pay extra for the contract sim and I then told them the story I was told at the customer care by Dineo on how Vodacom keeps the customer profile if they've had a contract. At the shop she told me that they are a Franchise and this is what they see, they're not aware of that process and according to them I'm on contract as they can pick up on the system. She even told me that they should have then assisted me if that's the case. This was now the 3rd day running around and everything has stopped for me as I now didn't have a phone for days and can't do anything. So the bottom line now is that I cannot have my sim swap because I'm using a prepaid but the system is showing contract and when I asked from Dineo if this can be reversed so I can still use my old sim card she said unfortunately no because my original sim has been taken off the system. This has been a nightmare service for me just to do a sim swap and now I don't have a sim card which means I've lost all my contacts and have to start with a new sim card, change my banking and everything. The sim that I'm referring to is ********** 082.I'm very disappointed and inconvenienced its not funny and thanks to Vodacom. Mrs Kona ********** 131

Dear Chule,
We are sorry to hear of the circumstances under which your Hello Peter posting has reached us and we do apologise for the inconvenience caused and we thank you for bringing the matter to our attention.
After having a look at your account I do see that a sim swop was processed on the *** on the 20.12.2017 to the sim card ***, the number is on pre-paid however you need to get a prepaid sim card in order to have your sim swop done properly, the store gave you a contract sim card which will not work on a prepaid number.
Please note I have tried to call you on both numbers but they are both currently off.
