Ridiculous data charges as *111# faulty

My husband has a contract with Vodacom with a monthly data bundle. On three separate occassions over the last 2 months he made use of the *111# service to top up his account with additional data bundles to avoid paying "out of bundle rates".

He has now received a bill of over R7000 for "out of bundle data". According to Vodacom, the *111# service has not been working, therefore his bundle purchases were not successful. This DESPITE getting a SUCCESSFUL "on-screen" message whilst processing the purchase on the *111# service!!

Vodacom claims it is not their problem!! Apparently the onus was on US to ensure the purchase was successful. I find it absolutely DESPICABLE that we can be held liable for THEIR SERVICE being faulty. Surely the system should be capable of notifying you that the purchase was unsuccessful??? In addition, the on-screen messages are the only way of verifying your purchase until you actually receive your monthly statement... How then does Vodacom expect the customer to know it was not successful timeously???

I find it quite "convenient" that Vodacom will not take responsibility and are happy for us to pay the higher "out of bundle" rates!

5 days later, and no reply from Vodacon whatsoever!

Clearly Vodacom is not all that concerned with resolving this issue.
