Ridiculous claim requirements

On the 13 May 2019 I logged a claim with Vodacom.

Please see below :

'I left the phone on the roof of my car and drove off. When I was on the Highway (N17) I saw the phone fall off my car and another motorist travelling behind me drive over it. I was travelling in the middle lane of the highway at approximately 110kms/ph. It would have been unsafe for me to stop and recover any remaining pieces of the phone. There was a passenger travelling with me who can verify the above.'

Vodacom has approved the claim but is insisting that I hand in the device or a piece thereof. As I am insured for Accidental damage and not 'Lost' device.

********** phone is not lost, it is in pieces on the N17 highway, please advise if you would like to go and retrieve a piece from the middle lane?

Completely ridiculous that you will not factor in aggravating circumstances and are suggesting that I should have stopped my vehicle after I saw the phone be completely destroyed.

Please be advised that my licence and bank cards were in the cover of the phone. Do you think that if it was at all safe for me to do so I would not have stopped to retrieve those items instead of having to take leave to go and get a new licence?

Come on Vodacom. This is just ridiculous
