Recently the account, from which my usual debit order goes off, experienced ***** and as such the bank froze the account. I informed Vodacom of this at least 4 days prior to the debit order going off via a telephonic conversation with a consultant, this consultant informed me that I had to visit a Vodacom branch and complete a removal of debit order form and pay my account there.

I did this 3 days prior to the day the debit order was to go off my account, even enquiring with staff as to how long the paperwork would take to process. They informed me no more than 48 hours. Today, 5 days after my debit order should have come off I received a notification stating the debit order was returned, I called the queries line and was told even though I had completed the removal of debit order paperwork, it was not processed in time and I will still be liable for a fee and a mark on my credit record.

I find this utterly unacceptable, because: (1) I duly and in good faith informed Vodacom of the frozen account, (2) paid my bill in full,(3) Vodacom not being able to process paperwork in time is not my problem, and (4) I have a contract stating the debit order will go off on set date, not before
