Request to port from MTN is a nightmare

I'm a Vodacom contract customer for about 15 years now. I recently upgraded and naturally passed my previous device down to my daughter. She's on MTN prepaid and requested to transfer to Vodacom as she's had connectivity issues. At Clearwater we submitted a port request, but the agent failed to inform us not to insert the new simcard into the phone. This resulted in us having to buy another simcard a week later at your Westgate branch and go through the entire process again. Upon following up with MTN 4 days later, they confirmed that they haven't received the request, but when I request the port through Vodacom's SMS process, I get a reply that it's already requested. A call to the call centre was no help either as the gentleman said I should return to both stores and request they cancel the two requests and then resubmit it. Why should this be my problem? Why should I waste my time and drive out my petrol to become a customer of Vodacom? Why is this so difficult? Please help me as I'm not prepared to drive out to the stores again. The stores are your agents and you should take responsibility to address this matter. I await your call.
