Request to Cancel data contract not honored

On Friday, 7 March 2025, I contacted Vodacom to inquire about canceling my data contract and whether any cancellation fees would apply. The consultant I spoke with informed me that the system showed no outstanding balance but stated she would email the relevant department to confirm. She also mentioned that I would receive the necessary information via email.

After receiving no feedback, I followed up on Friday, 14 March 2025. The consultant generated another quote and advised that the matter would again be referred to the relevant department. This time I was further advised that the contract would be canceled as per my request since I do not owe anything.

On 23 March 2025, I called Vodacom for a third time and was informed that the issue would be escalated. I followed up once more on 25 March 2025 and was given the same response—that the matter would be escalated.

On 27 March 2025, I called again and was told by the consultant that I no longer needed to follow up, as the cancellation would be processed by the end of March and I would receive a confirmation email.

However, on 7 April 2025, I contacted Vodacom again and was shocked to learn that the cancellation had never been processed. The consultant then generated a new quote, which now stated that I owe Vodacom fees due to the cancellation taking place on 7 April—despite my original cancellation request being submitted on 7 March.

Vodacom’s failure to act on my timely request and the lack of communication throughout this process is unacceptable. I refuse to accept any charges that result from this incompetence and demand that this issue be resolved immediately.
