Replacement screen price rip-off

I needed to replace the screen on my cellphone, so took it to the local (Pinnnacle Branch in Nelspruit) and paid a R57 non-refundable "handling fee" apparently to send the phone to Johannesburg. Three days later I was given a quote for R3200 to replace the screen. The phone being quite old, I declined and retrieved it. A few days later I took it to the local cellphone repair shop in White River and lo and behold! for R1500 a brand new sceen was fitted: A process that took all of 20 minutes. A new screen protector was added to the deal absolutely free of charge.

How come the local shop can do the job for only R1500 and Vodacom charges R3200 for precisely the same service? What a rip-off! I understand they have higher overheads, but more than double the price?

Not that it makes any difference, but I have had a contract with Vodacom for over fifteen years...time for a change?

Dear Customer

We cannot comment on the pricing of other repair centres. Various factors influence these costs and this differs from repair centre to repair centre.
