Renewal of Contract

At the start of March I renewed my contract through the Vodacom Store at the V&A Waterfront. The process was pretty smooth and they fortunately had stock of the phone that I wanted.

At the time of renewal I chose to add a pair of Apple AirPods for an extra monthly fee. The consultant who I dealt with explained that they were waiting on stock and that they should be here within the next couple of weeks at the most. After several follow ups with the store I was informed that the orders had been placed with Vodacom but there was no estimated date of delivery. Vodacom head office had not been able to provide to the store with this date. Today, more than a month later I believe that Vodacom is still giving the store the same story.

As result of this I have been offered two options:

1) Cancel the renewal and re-sign a new contract minus the AirPods

2) That Vodacom Re-Imburse me for the months that I have not had the AirPods

Although I appreciate the effort being made to compensate me the bottom line is that I ordered the AirPods and these were promised, according to the details contained within the contract. And no, of course I will not be paying for something that I have not received. That’s called a breach of contract.

Frankly it is baffling that a company such as Vodacom can crunch the numbers, develop a product offering and then simply not be able to follow through. Someone is not doing their job. I will also not accept that there is a lack of stock as quick search online will show that I can easily order a set of these with minimal fuss.

I look forward to hearing some feedback.
