Release of number ***

Dear Sir/ Madam, my father gave notice to terminate his vodacom contract at the end of January 2016, with a termination date of 29 February 2016 and a request to transfer his number, *** to prepaid. This was duly done, but he has been struggling since 1 March 2016 to get Vodacom to release the number in order for Telkom to take it over. He has been to various Vodacom shops in Menlyn and Pretoria and I have accompanied him to Vodacom shops at Century City (3 times) and Tygervalley (twice), without any progress. There excuses for not being able to release the number ranged from an outstanding balance (which they had to admit was not true), him not giving notice or giving notice too early (which we also showed them to be untrue). He has now been without a contract phone for 6 weeks because Vodacom is either refusing or unable to release his number. Vodacom is also unable or unwilling to explain to us the true reasons for the failure, with every branch giving a different reason. This situation has become untenable and I would be grateful for your intervention.

Reviewer Update
on 18 April I received a notification that Vodacom will get in touch with me. This has not happened and my problem with the release of the number has also not been resolved. I am extremely frustrated. The phone is not working, because Vodacom cancelled the number, but refuses or is unable to release the number for Telkom to activate. In the meantime, nobody could care. What alternative options do I have, because Vodacom seems not to even be bothered by this complaint to hellopeter.
