Rejected Warren Claim - ####
Good day,
So, I took an upgrade from Vodacom, upgrading to a Samsung Flip 4 in 2023. I took this phone specifically for the reason that it could fold and be hidden away from the eye, especially when I had to go and see clients in the dangerous areas in town. Before I went to go and collect the phone, I'd already ordered me a screen protector and a strong cover for the phone from TakeAlot, which was an awesome, strong phone cover.
The day that I took the Samsung Flip 4, they told me that the phone has a 2 year warranty, which I said was great.
So ,this year in June 2024, the phones bottom half on the screen started flashing and made a small black dot on the edges of the screen in the middle next to the hinges. It was definitely from opening and closing the phone, as I had never even dropped the phone once.
So I then said it's fine I'll leave the phone open and take it to Vodacom when I have a spare phone to use in the meanwhile as they don't borrow phones and I will obviously need a phone for the week or 2 that the phone will be going in for repairs.
So it started that the small side strips on the screen started lifting and coming off from putting the phone in my pocket and taking it out. Why make a phone so #### that the sides comes loose????
I then got a spare phone and took my Flip 4 to Vodacom repairs in Rustenburg on Thursday the 5th of Sept. They told me that they will have a look at the phone and let me know. I also filled in a letter whereby I've also explained the whole situation.
So then on Friday the 6th of Sept I've received an sms that said Vodacom has declined my warranty claim and wants to know if they should go ahead with the quotation. I haven't received a call from them, so I thought let me call them and hear what the reason was. So they said because of the sides of the screen lifting up, that is the reason why they will not restore the screen on warranty. If it didn't lift up, they would've restored the screen as is. The quote was more than R13k, which is crazy!!! I asked to speak to the manager and explained then to him the WHOLE story, whereby he said that he will send it through to vodacoms specialist.
On Monday the 9th of Sept, I thought wait let me call them and follow-up as I have not heard back from them yet. They guy or tech at Vodacom Repairs informed me that they are still waiting for feedback from the specialist.
I then got a call today the 12th of October stating that Vodacom will not repair my phone because off the side strip that has lifted, so they are basically saying that I had damaged the phone so it is my negligence. I mean it is not my fault if they are selling a #### phone tho????
This is unacceptable, we've been a client of Vodacom for many many years, I was still in primary school when we started at Vodacom and this is the service that we as customers get?? What's the use of a warranty on a phone if they try all their ways to avoid it.
I will never ever take a contract with Vodacom again or recommend them to someone else.
