The company simply refuses to cancel my lapsed contract. I am now forced to pay on a month-to-month basis for a service I have no need of.
I have a total of 17 phone calls to their cancellations department in the 4 weeks. No one has been willing to assist. When you call systems are "offline" and they cannot retrieve your records - then you are kept on the line for about 30 minutes. When they realise you will not hang up their system miraculously comes back online. Instead of assisting you with the request the agents will then spend another 10 minutes pretending not to understand what it is you want, then end offering you a new contract. You explain that your needs have changed and do not need an upgrade and the system goes "offline" again. This back-and-forth takes about an hour of your time ad they finally promise that your request has been actioned and you should expect SMS confirmation. Of course the confirmation never arrives. You wait about 2 days then call back.
The new agent tells you there is no request from you to have your contract cancelled. The process repeats itself again. This went on for all my 17 calls and my contract has still not been cancelled.
The sad thing is that I never had problems with any of my contracts while they were active. I was quite happy with Vodacom. For them to mess up a relationship right at the end is downright stupid. I have now decided I will not be paying for any of the other existing contracts as well. I will simply block off all their transactions until they resolve this.
