The purpose of this e-mail is to complain about ongoing ******** deductions being made by Vodacom on my account and to request Vodacom to refund me back such deductions.
Background As an IMP employee, my employer has loaned me a lap-top equipped with a 3G card that uses Vodacom network (Cell number: ********** 358). Using the above, I access the internet for work purposes (e.g., booking flights and hotels).
Complaint Starting from June 2017, when I was on maternity leave, I noticed a significant reduction in my salary. I then queried this with my employer. My employer responded to say they noticed that I had ‘subscribed’ to Vodafone Live which is a mobile entertainment and not work related. This attracted recurring deductions as shown below: June 17 = R44.57 July 17 = R420.90 August 17 = R434.93 September 17 = R164.93 Total = R1 465.18
As I do not recall ever signing up for the above service (Vodafone Live), I then immediately took steps to cancel it. I did the following: o I went to the Benoni Vodacom Shop to enquire on this Vodafone Live subscription. They said they could not assist me as this is a Business account. This Vodacom branch advised me to request a letter from my employer bearing the Company letterheard which grants them permission to check the 3G card. This was only done when I returned back to work from maternity leave in July 2017. o In July 2017, my employer sent an e-mail to Vodacom requesting the cancellation of the above subscription. On the 20th of July 2017, Vodacom confirmed the cancellation of this Vodafone Live subscription. However, deductions continued as shown on the above table despite receiving written confirmation of the cancellation. o In August 2017, on seeing that the subscription deductions were still being made, another enquiry was sent to Vodacom in order to establish what was going on. See attached e-mail response from Vodacom via Karabo Malupe. Moreover, I went to the Benoni Vodacom Shop again to find out why deductions were still being made despite the cancellation. At the Vodacom branch, they told me that the cancellation was only done in August and that is why the invoice for August still went through. From the above, anyone can see that it is two different stories. From the table above, you can see that the problem is still persisting as September invoice also went through.
Other For the record, I actually do not even know what this Vodafone Live product is really for; how it benefits me as a customer. For the Vodacom customers to be lured into signing up for this product, unaware, is regarded as some kind of a **** which, as a matter of fact, needs to brought to the attention of the relevant Regulatory Body (ICASA). I mean I never even received a confirmation that I had just subscribed for the product in question!
I decided to escalate this matter to Makayla Govender in Vodacom Head office to seek a speedy resolution. the email was sent on 18th October, she rep**** saying she will escalete further and come back to me with the feedback. since I heard nothing from her, I then did a follow up on 25th October, untill this day I have not received any feeback from Vodacom.
