Really disappointed

I have been a victim of impersonation. Someone walked into a Vodacom shop and managed to get a contract upgrade under my name somewhere in Cape Town (I am based in JHB). How is this possible? I am sure Vodacom has my ID copy that I used when I was applying for a contract phone, did you not verify if the picture are the same on both ID's? Who is supposed to pay for the phone that this lady took out?

When I received an SMS stating that a sim swop had been done I immediately called customer care to inform them that I was not the one who requested the sim swop and asked them to stop it, the lady that was assisting me told me that it's not possible to stop the sim swop, it will have to go through and I will then need to go to a Vodashop and query this.

So what's the point of having a call center if they will not be able to assist you with anything? Kindly investigate this matter as I will not be paying for any contract that I didn't take out. Also, maybe you should check the type of systems that you use, if a sim swop is done at a Vodacom shop surely your call center can have the same system the shops use and stop any unauthorized sim swops.
