I have had a month-to-month prepaid cellphone account at Vodacom for many years. I accumulated more than R3000.00 unused (but paid for) credit over the past months as I do not use my cellphone often.

I visited the Vodacom store at Cresta to find a solution. I was told that, should I migrate to a different package, I will lose the credit.

I called Vodacom's cancellations deparment (for a different matter). They advised me to call customer service to migrate the package and that the credit will remain. I called the customer service department this morning. I was told that, should I migrate to a different, more affordable package, I will forfeit the accumulated airtime.

I was put through to a more senior person - a lady called Rose. She also insisted that, should I migrate to a more affordable packge, I will lose R3000.00 worth of already paid airtime.

This is disgraceful and very probably *******.

I might add that this January is my "upgrade" period. It seems that upgrades are more important than furnishing a service already paid for.

Dear Client
I understand your concerns, however the billing system for a hybrid/prepaid account is different to an open account. Thus, the funds will not be able to carry over. This is mentioned in the terms and conditions of the contract as well.
You may migrate to another hybrid/prepaid contract whereby the fees will be carried over.
Once again, we would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused.
Kind regards

Best regards,
I am sorry, but this does not help me in the least.
Not one of your staff (apart from the lady at cancellations) indicated to me that this is possible - Not your store, not your consumer service agent and not the supervisor.
Incidentally, one of your agents called me yesterday as a result of a sms I rep**** to. This gentleman ALSO made it clear that, should I migrate to any other package at all, I will forfeit the credit. He also said that, should I cancel my month-to-month contract, I will lose the credit.
I have no idea what "hybrid/prepaid contract" means. I just searched your website and the search term "hybrid/prepaid" does not return any results.
Does it mean that you will only allow me the services I have already paid for only if I lock myself into a 2- year contract?
Is it at all possible for one of your agents to call me to, at least, advise me on the possibilities?
