R49 000 Data Roaming Charges!!!

I travel internationally quite often and am therefore well aware of what Vodacoms data charges could be if I chose to use their services.

Between 21 December 2016 and 3 January 2017 I was out of South Africa and took every precaution to ensure that I would not be using any cellulatr data. The wifi assist option on my cell phone was turned off which meant that, if I was not connected to a wifi network, I could not access the internet or browze any social media websites. Only calls were allowed.

On 31 December 2016, I received a sms from vodacom informing me that my data charges were estimated to be R6000. 2 days later I received my statement via email showing a total bill of -+R49 000.

I logged a few calls with Vodacom and eventually had to make arrangements to pay an average cost manually to Vodacom. After logging the complaint on 3 January 2017, I received feedback from Vodacom on 28 February 2017 saying that "we have done a full investigation and the billing for data charges is true and correct"

Not surprisingly, after being back in South Africa for 2 months, Vodacom is still charging me for roaming data!

I am expected to pay the amount of R39000 ( after being offered a "discount") to Vodacom but cannot do so until Vodacom provides proof that the data charges belong to me and are valid.
