R25 000 phone ordered on my number

On Thursday I received a text from Vodacom:

Dear Daniel Stoffberg, quote:*** has been generated on your profile and vetting has been Approved. If you did not initiate this request, please urgently contact Vodacom Customer Care on 082111.

As I did not apply for anything I called Vodacom, a lady informed me that nothing was on the system and that she would call me back. She did not call back and I reckoned as nothing was on the system all should be fine.

This morning on Tuesday 28 April I received a call from number *** asking me to confirm my delivery address for my 2GB + Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra phone. I informed the lady that I did not order this, (she confirmed the original delivery address they had was in Durban, whilst I am in Cape Town). She was also confirmed that she phoned me as some notes relating to the order looked suspicious on he side. I asked her to please cancel this order immediately as I did not make the order and it must have been made **********ly.

I spoke to a very helpful gentleman afterwards in the Vodacom Service department, he picked up on the system that this order was done on my details but advised up that it was indeed cancelled earlier per my request.

He did confirm the order was done on my number, name and information. This I found extremely alarming, how did someone almost get away by putting a contract on my profile with a R25 000 phone?

WHAT I NEED TO URGENTLY FIND OUT FROM VODACOM: HOW DID THIS HAPPEN??? WHY DID NO ONE CHECK THIS WITH ME ON MY NUMBER? WHY DID A LADY HANDLING DELIVERIES HAVE TO PICK THIS UP?

I have in the meantime deleted my Vodacom online profile in fear of this being repeated.

I expect that Vodacom please inform me HOW this could have happened and how this went so far? Are my details safe with Vodacom, what prevents this from happening again? Who was the person who ordered this on my details, will Vodacom be investigating the ********** application?

Please let me know if I can still trust Vodacom.

Good day

Thank you for the call yesterday, after that I thought the situation was sorted. However I received another call from Vodacom at about 12h45 asking me about "my new order"...this time it was a new order and again an order I did not make. So I cancelled that order as well. It was said the order was made online, my phone call received yesterday said the other order was made in a Vodacom store probably.

PLEASE CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW I CAN PREVENT THESE ****BAGS FROM ORDERING PHONES ON MY ACCOUNT EVERY WEEK??????????? HOW CAN THIS BE SO EASY?????? WILL THE SAME THING HAPPEN LATER THIS WEEK?????

SORT THIS OUT PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since my last message above I managed to speak to Vodacom ***** department who suggested they might be able to assist to prevent this from happening in the future. This is something Vodacom service said can not be done. I have just mailed the ***** department and will be awaiting their feedback in the next few days. Finger crossed.
