Questionable Business Practices

In the most horrible sequence of unprofessional and questionable events, I've now learnt that in a country full of so much crime, Vodacom allows one to operate a technically blacklisted phone.

My story started around the 4th-6th of February 2020. I had misplaced my phone then went to block/blacklist it at Vodacom Brooklyn Mall. Which they then did but once I found it again I went back requesting they unblock/unblacklist it. Which they had seemingly done as after a week of going up and down the store my phone was up again.

Fast forward to 26 April 2021 I've now really lost my phone but then I cannot get an ITC number in order to open a case with the police because Vodacom (call center) tells me my phone has been blacklisted this entire time (since February 2020) but I could miraculously use without any trouble at all. Which makes me wonder how many ********* are able to do such a thing with all our ****** devices. I then go to Vodacom Centurion mall (April 28 2021) to try figure out whats happening where with a straight face I'm told if I cannot remember the PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL who did the blacklisting over a year before they could not assist me and that I would have to take MORE time to physically go to Vodacom Brooklyn and point this person out. Naturally, I told the lady helping me that this request was absolutely bonkers and that I would do no such thing. She proceeds to do what she should've done in the first place, try help me before just shooing me away.

She calls Vodacom Insurance and just when I though things coudn't get worse she get off the phone with an even more ridiculous demand, the only way they can help me is if I: 1) Go to the police station, get an affidavit stating I requested the initial blacklisting 2) Then request another affidavit stating that I requested the initial unblacklisting 3) Call back/go back to Vodacom and request a new blacklisting 4) Then wait however long this whole thing will take in order to get an ITC number for me 5) Go to the police station to open a case

Please tell me if this makes any sense? Where am I meant to get all this time? All the while enduring the inconvenience of being without a phone. FOR A MISTAKE VODACOM MADE!!!!????

Unfortunately due to further ridiculous lack of integration between all the Vodacom counter parts (Customer Care, Insurance, "Blacklisting department") my issue remains unresolved.

Vodacom Insurance claims the ITC number generated by Vodacom Customer Care is incorrect and reflects an unblocked/un-blacklisted device yet Customer Care insists the device is already blacklisted. Now I must wait a further few business days, without my phone which I need for work, for Vodacom to investigate their own mess. Lets add to this another trip I have to make to the Police Station to request yet another case number.

Oh and if that's not enough, the Vodacom Insurance agent then told ME, that I must go get evidence that the device was blocked by Vodacom Customer Care. DO I WORK FOR VODACOM??? Why am I being made to run about over a mess that is clearly your organizations'?!

At this point Vodacom as an entire organization might as well go back to being a paper based entity.

This is world class stuff.
