Question Vodacom Authentication Response

I have needed assistance from Vodacom on a couple of occasions in the last month. When sending an email - I get a reply requesting an Authentication Response asking for personal info - I do not understand Vodacom - this is tantamount to phishing. Every company you deal with warns you not to give out personal info and will hold you liable if there is a hack - Please can someone in Vodacom find an alternate way to seek Authentication
