!!! public warnig !!! !!! wifi router warning!!!

3 weeks ago I got a new 50gig Vodacom data deal with a Huawei HG659 router. On installation of the router I had to configure port forwarding on the router. However, I was not able to obtain access to my router. Vodacom changed the default admin login option and thus not grant you access. I then mailed and asked for a password. I was refused and only granted a password for 24 hours. Upon login I changed the default password and removed their remote access to the router.

I have extreme concerns with remote access to my private network. Vodacom or someone with remote access an enter my private network. View all my connected devices like Tv, Xbox, telephones and get a full item list of all my equipment. Nice to have a shopping list before you arrange a brake in ( im not implementing that vodacom *****s from cleints homes). Or enter my network connected hard drive to view private photos and files. The moment you connect a divice to you network its open for attack.

They may tell you that it is for easy network diagnostic’s, but the greater risk of exposing your network to a corporation in is very very dangerous and no one should ever allow remote access to there networks.
