Preying on Widow
Poor service.
My father passed away in 2021, and his contract was moved to my mother’s name.
This contract was supposed to end in Dec 2023, and my mother wanted to cancel it since it is not being used. After visiting the branch we were advised that we cannot do any cancellation of contracts in branch.
So she did as advised - she has since tried to cancel the contract at least 3 times since the contract has come to an end, and each time after interacting with the contact centre, they tell her that the contract has been cancelled.
After visiting the branch on the 9th of March 2024, the consultant confirmed that the contract has still NOT been cancelled - this is after contact centre agents promised that it would be cancelled.
Honestly this is sickening. Each time she tries to cancel the contract, the agents would quickly have 1) Excuses or 2) Tell her that the request has been done, and then they try to shove new products and contracts down her throat.
This is sickening! Preying on a widow to make money.
My mother’s request was simple - cancel the contract she DOES NOT USE.
Now she is paying for something she does not use. Seems like once a contract is on your name - Vodacom will forever haunt you since it doesn’t seem POSSIBLE TO CANCEL A CONTRACT.
Best regards,

I have been in contact with a consultant, however, I advised that my mother is the account holder and that she should be the one contacted.
For more than two days my mother answered each and every spam called she received, but not one of the calls were from the Vodacom consultant who I spoke to.
So I’m not sure what to say at this point.

My mother has tried phoning the number *** as per instructions above. When dialing the number, it says “The Number Does Not Exist”
I’m going to assume that the number was supposed to be ***, which then brings us back to square one. This is the first number my mother phoned (which the Vodacom stored advised her to call). It is on this very number that the consultant assured my mother that the contract had been cancelled, and then proceeded to try and persuade her from closing it.
What a terrible experience.
Bad service.
