Premature Sim Deletion
I am out of the country a lot and earlier this year I tried to use my Vodacom prepaid sim card and got an on screen message saying that the sim is not registered on the network. I emailed Vodacom to ask what is going on and (after security questions about activity on my account) I was told that my sim had been deleted after inactivity for more than 150 days per their policy. I proved to them with screenshots that this inactivity was actually less than 90 days as Vodacom had sent me a message. Fortunately, Vodacom has no record of this?! After many emails and no progress they offered to escalate the query so I provided a phone number and a 5 hour window in which to call (I am still out of the country). Vodacom did try to call (outside of this large window I had given them) the call was earlier than requested and hence I was not available. They then emailed me to say that my number was recycled and given to a new subscriber so there was nothing they could do. I am still waiting for answers to the following questions: 1) What happened to the prepaid credit that was on my account? 2) Why was my sim deleted earlier than the 150 days per their policy? 3) What is Vodacom going to do to fix the situation?
