Power to who?

Late in August I called Vodacom to cancel a contract that was ending the same month, the lady on the other end enticed me with a better offer that would see me pay the same price for more benefits. I agreed. On the 7th 0r 8th of September I called Vodacom again to cancel the contract because the upgrade benefits had not been allocated at the begining of the month, but instead, the old benefits were. During that call, the guy on the other end offered to make it up to me by reducing the premium on my data contact which was ending in December 2016. I explicitly told him that I did not want an upgrade, that I intended to cancel the contract since I could not afford it anymore and he assured me it was not an upgrade and that I would still be able to cancel in December if I still wished to, after the premium decrease.

Today, 29 September, I log into my profile, you know, just touching base with my debts, and voila! My data contract was upgraded to end December 2018! Seriously? This is how Vodacom *****s from its customers? I have been a loyal customer for more than 10 years, and all I did was add more contracts when I could afford it. Now they bully me into continuing with a contract I no longer need or afford? Yeah, that's power for sure! But to who?
