I am not a Vodacom customer. I have a prepaid line with a competitor. I recently purchased a new contract with another competitor, I requested for my number to be ported in. 3 days later i was told that my number could not be ported because there is an existing port request from Vodacom. I phoned Vodacom to get them to cancel this unsolicited port request. They tell me there is no port request on their system. I take time out of my work day to go into the competitor's store so they can give me proof of the port request by Vodacom. They supply me with a printout of the request. I go to Vodacom store where they tell me that they are not authorised to remove the port request because it was made by a different Vodacom store. They tell me to call the call centre. I call the call centre. After explaining my situation to half a dozen people and either have them pass the buck, tell me there is no port request, or simply put me on hold indefinitely I finally get the number for their porting department. Call the number, noone answers for over an hour (2:30-3:30pm). Call the call centre again, agent says he will put me through to the porting department directly. Phone rings for 10 minutes with no answer. Call centre agent calls me back (Sifiso 5/5) and says he will physically get someone from the porting department to assist me. Trevor from the porting department (- ********** /5) comes onto the line and i explain my situation. He tells me there is no porting request. I explain that I have physically witnessed the porting request appear on competitors system as well as on the system in the Vodacom store. Trevor puts me on hold. He comes back onto the line to tell me there is no porting request. After 3+ hours of the same back and forth with Vodacom I lose my patience. I ask Trevor to hold the line while i find a meeting room where i can close the door. I ask Trevor not to interupt me as i go through the whole story again, explaining that I have physical proof that there is a Vodacom port request open against my line. While I am telling the story AGAIN Trevor puts me on hold and never returns to the call.
I have been trying to get Vodacom to cancel a porting request for over 3 hours, and all i have received is blame-shifting, arrogance, lies and endless repeats of the same damn hold music.
I will be sending a detailed version of events through to ICASA.
