Porting from FNB Connect to Vodacom delay

The week before Christmas 2019, I contacted Vodacom to apply for new contract with them. I was and am still currently a FNB Connect customer. Vodacom kindly advised me that in order for the port process to take place, FNB first had to downgrade my number to a pay as you go number, then only can Vodacom port my number. I comp**** and contacted FNB with this request. The downgrade took place on 1 Jan 2020. Since 1 Jan 2020, it took several communications between Vodacom and FNB. Vodacom kept on telling me their system shows the number is not open or unlocked to be ported. Whereas FNB kept on telling me from their side it shows the contrary. I was the one being inconvenienced in the meantime. Finally Vodacom made contact again with me on 17 Jan 2020, telling me they can now proceed with the application for the contract. It was completed over the phone, the lady handling the application did tell me at the end of our conversation that a hand full of customers sometimes experience a delay with the porting process and it can take up to a month. I received my new phone on 22 Jan 2020. Since then I have spoken to Vodacom call centre several times inquiring on why the porting has not yet taken place. Their response every time is "Sorry we at the call centre cannot help you with the porting of a contract number, you will have to go to a Vodacom shop". At the Vodacom shop in Menlyn I was told initially, I will need a new number, then he looked at his computer and said the process is in progress. I have phoned managers, pleaded, asked nicely, all to no avail. I cannot understand how this can take this long. It is totally unacceptable and I am on the verge of taking my business elsewhere, as this experience has been a truly frustrating and painful exercise. I do not understand who is to blame for this delay, Vodacom or FNB Connect. While either or neither of them are doing what they are suppose to, I am the one being inconvenienced. It is now 29 Jan 2020, give or take 1.5months later and still no joy.
