Poor signal Illovo Beach

Illovo Beach has always had poor Vodacom signal and non existant inside the building, this is now for 10 years. Unfortunately I had never reported this because it is our holiday accommodation however on Wednesday 05.07.2017 I decided to log a complaint.

I was promised a reference number which I never received still. I was called by Dylan Canteberry who advised me that the nearest tower is 1.6 km away and that there are no plans to install a new tower so there is nothing he can do. I asked for solution to the problem and then he became defensive stating "Why was I still with Vodacom after all these years if I was experiencing problems" , now this is none of his business. Then he states that it is very difficult for Vodacom to get a licence to install a tower due to environmental issues. At some point he stated that because we are close to the beach the signal is poor since their towers are focussed away from the beach.

This person really was full of excuses rather than trying to help find a solution and he had a pretty bad attitude towards me. I then asked if I can speak to his manager and he blankly refused saying that he will not escalate this issue and he refused to provide me with his manager's name and contact details.

On the other hand MTN had a very strong signal in this area.

Vodacom boasts that they are the best service provider in SA, after this incident I totally disagree with this and I am a very disappointed customer.
