Poor service from Vodacom
My husband has 3 Sim only contracts with Vodacom. He has unbroken contracts with Vodacom since 2007 and I am disgusted with the service that we received now. Two of our contracts expired at the end of August and we were never informed that they were going to expire. No sms or email was ever received regarding this. So as of September, our contracts which were discounted, reverted to the original price of more that double what we were paying. This went unnoticed until I did not receive the usual data on the 1st October. Our bill has more than doubled and when I called and spoke to a consultant she said that Vodacom does not send out any correspondence. I insisted on speaking to her supervisor (Leena) who came on the line for about 2 minutes and cut the call on me. I was on that call for 40 minutes by that time. They informed me that it was our responsibility to check when our contracts expire so it was basically our fault that we were now presented with an exorbitant bill. It was our responsibilty to phone their call centre or check the Vodacom app (which is terrible and does not work properly on my phone ). No solution was offered nor any apology for not sending us any correspondence regarding the expiry and implication of not renewing/cancelling/upgrading our contracts. Especially in these unprecedented COVID times surely they must realise that people are struggling and cannot afford to waste money.
I am really disgusted and disappointed with Vodacom, maybe it is their ploy not to inform us so that they can charge us more money. We have decided that if they cannot furnish proof that correspondence was sent, that we would port out and use a cell provider that actually values their customers, or maybe just port out because Leena cut the call on me.
You are completely missing the point. I did not want to cancel the contract, I wanted the courtesy of being notified that the contract was up for renewal or cancellation so that we could do something about it before being presented with a bill that was double what we had agreed to pay for the contract 25 months earlier. We received no such correspondence and therefore did not know the contract was coming to an end when it did, and the implications thereof.
Other contract suppliers make sure that their clients are aware that the contract is coming to an end at least a few months prior. Why am I told that Vodacom does not offer this service?
