Poor Service & Disregard for Consumer Protection Act

<p>I purchased a cell phone cover in January 2017. The cover is defective and we tried to return it on 26 April 2017 but Dwain (the store manager) refuses to exchange or refund the cover as "it was not returned within 1 month"</p> <p>The CPA clearly states that "Consumers are permitted to return goods to suppliers, without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense, within a period of six (6) months .... if the goods are defective". It goes further to state that "Suppliers are obliged to refund, repair or replace ..."</p> <p> </p> <p>Besides the poor service, this Vodashop and the shop management are acting *******ly in terms of the CPA and doing a dis-service to the Vodacom brand.</p> <p> </p>

Vodacom has been in contact with me in connection with the defective cover. The Vodacom customer service representative is adamant that Vodacom will not exchange defective cell phone covers.

The Consumer Protection Act was promulgated in 2009 with the express purpose of protecting consumers from "abuse or exploitation".

By their actions and telephonic communication, Vodacom have confirmed that will not abide by the Consumer Protectioon Act legislation and, as stated by the Vodacom representative, I am welcome to invoke the CPA and contact their legal department.

Vodacom - as big business in South Africa - you should set an example and not flout the law and abuse your consumers.
