Poor customer service

Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Poor Customer Service Experience at Vodacom Shop, Hammanskraal Jubilee Mall

Dear Vodacom Customer Service Manager

I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to formally lodge a complaint about the poor customer service I experienced at your Vodacom shop in Hammanskraal Jubilee Mall on [ 3 January 2025].

I went to the store to request assistance with setting up an eSIM. Upon arrival, I had to wait in a long queue outside the store, even though I observed some consultants sitting idly, seemingly engaged on their phones. Once allowed inside, I was made to wait an additional 15 minutes before a consultant called me for assistance.

The consultant who attended to me identified herself as Tshegofatso, although I have concerns about the authenticity of this name. When I explained my request for an eSIM, she responded dismissively, stating, "I will just print out the information for you. You must go and do a SIM swap, and if you fail the security questions, it’s your problem. We won’t refund your R25."

This response was both unprofessional and unhelpful. Moreover, she did not verify my details or make any effort to assist further. When the printer failed to produce the necessary document, she merely shrugged off the issue and returned my money, stating that the eSIM system was not working. This contradicted the information I had received earlier, and she offered no explanation or solution.

Additionally, her demeanor throughout the interaction was disrespectful. She frequently engaged in personal conversations with colleagues and used her phone while attending to me.

As a loyal Vodacom customer for over 10 years, I am deeply disappointed by this treatment. I believe all customers deserve respectful and professional service, which was glaringly absent during this visit.

I kindly request that you address this matter as a priority and provide feedback on the steps taken to improve the service at this branch. Training your staff in customer service etiquette and professionalism would greatly enhance the customer experience.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.
