Poor and unprofessional service

In January of 2016, I signed up for a data contract with a wifi router - the advertised deal was for a 24 month period. Prior to signing up, I communicated that I would only require the data for a 12 month period to which Vodacom agreed, provided that I paid a higher premium. I was happy with this arrangement and took on the contract with the understanding, between Vodacom and myself, that the contract will expire in a years time and I would not have to notify them.

This year, in February, I noticed that my account was debited for the same amount, by Vodacom, and I decided to follow up on this. I requested copies of my monthly statements, and invoices, which I haven't been receiving. Somehow, the customer care agent never got that instruction right. I still haven't been receiving my statements despite numerous calls to customer care to update my email address - if they can't get this right, how are they going to sort out the 12 month contract that I'm still being debited for, I know, right ?

In March of this year, I went to the store where I signed up for the data contract, and asked them to follow up on the cancellation of the data contract and assist. The consultant there agreed that it was a 12 month contract and that my account should have not been debited. The consultant called head office, yeah, HEAD OFFICE, where there are no logical heads, only trained parrots to recite verbatim terms and conditions, and explained the terms of my signing the contract. The person at head office confirmed that the contract would be cancelled and that I would be contacted by someone within 3 days to confirm my request. The matter was resolved, or that's what I thought... I noticed in April that my account was still being debited for the same amount, and I still wasn't receiving my statements via email. So in early May, I contacted another customer don't care consultant who looked into the matter, who promised to have everything resolved and contact me within 3 days ... yeah I'm still waiting (but you know this right, this is after all how you treat honest, decent and paying customers who honour their end of an agreement - what choice do I have really , one missed payment on my side and you're faster than Wyatt Earp in shooting my name down by registering me with every credit bureau as a bad client ... )

Anyway, I called another customer don't care consultant this morning (aka the parrot) who also wasn't allowing me an opportunity to present my query fully - he kept interrupting me and reading clauses from different agreements. Finally, I got him to listen to my query and log a dispute on the system - yes the very same system which has no audit trails or previous records of any of my calls ... and the media has a go at other systems for being unreliable ... the don't care consultant promised to sms a reference number to me, as I was driving ( I used my hands free ... just in case you're wondering). Almost 3 hours have passed and no one has called me back nor have I received an sms as promised.

Is Vodacom ever going to get this right ? Or should I try another approach and see just how much quicker than Wyatt Earp Vodacom really is ... ???

Dominic,

This request will be resolved when you load the data that you promised.

Upon cancellation, your unfriendly dont care consultant also removed the data that was due to me.

Such unprofessionalism from VODACOM seems to be the standard now !!!
