Poor after sales service delivery

I have had a Vodacom phone contract for several years. It was also a prepaid phone for years before it became a contract phone. I bought prepaid data to use on this phone.

I received a call from a saleslady from Vodacom who offered me a contact that would provide me with wifi and more airtime per month. She mentioned how much I was spending on prepaid data and it all made good sense about how much I was going to save, so I accepted the new contract.

The parcel was delivered, but I only opened it on the 5th of May as I was out of town. I could not get the system to work. A friend also tried, but was also not successful. I had opened the tablet and when the dots came on, I touched them. Still nothing worked.

I took the box and all the devices to the Vodacom Alisom Repairs Shop in Cresta Centre. I wandered in and was ignored, until after a while I realised I was supposed to take a ticket. There is no-one in attendance and the most awful music was playing so loudly, I could not hear myself. I missed my ticket call because the music was so loud. I reported the horrible music to the manager who said that it was prescribed in Vodacom stores.

The person attending to me eventually said I needed to remember how I touched the dots or it would have to be re-set. I could not remember. So I was offered a re-set by someone else working there for R 200, but it was under guarantee and I could have it re-set for free. It was going to take 5-10 working days. Job card number ********** 5- ********** 7. I left the box with all the devices with the store.

Some days later I was informed to fetch the devices. The tablet was not re-set, it was exchanged for another device. This is breach of contract as my job card instruction was to re-set the tablet, not exchange it. I was not assisted to get the devices to work, so I went to the Vodacom sales store where the manager kindly helped me to put it together. However, it still does not work.

I have been unable to use the wifi. I have not touched the tablet as I first wanted to get to use the wifi on my phone and so save on prepaid data. The wifi device does not work. In the meanwhile I found out today when I phoned cancellations that I actually have another phone number a 064....number too. No-one has informed me of that up to today. The new contract is interfering with my old contract as I have missed several calls. I phoned the numbers back with my MTN prepaid phone and the people said that the phone call was just terminated. I am experiencing difficulty in using my old Vodacom phone. I seem to have lost the benefits of my old contract which I am still paying for. I decided to cancel the new contract as it is of no use to me and is interfering with my existing contract. I spoke to a lady at cancellations who did not answer me and did not assist me. This was a few days ago. I phoned today and was sent from pillar to post. On ********** I spoke to Roland Varathan. He was rude and unhelpful. He dictated to me to do this and that and I have no clue what he was telling me. I don't know how to reset a pin number. He was making it my responsibility to make devices that are not working, work. Nice to shift the buck...dictating is not helpful and it certainly lacks empathy. He informed me that the wifi device has one button and here I am looking at it and it has 2 buttons. He kept arguing with me about the buttons. How helpful is that?

I have indicated to Vodacom that I would like to have the new contract cancelled as 1.) it is interfering with a phone and a contract that I have had for years and that 2.) the wifi is not working - not on my 076...phone or my laptop (it says it has only limited internet access). So I am back to buying prepaid data and am using Iburst for my laptop. So of what use is the contract that I am paying for? It is a waste of money for me. I was sold a good offer but there has been no service delivery. I have only been messed with. And if I cancel the contract I am now going to pay penalties. In the meanwhile trying to solve this problem has taken more than 7 hours of my time, I am paying for a contract that I am unable to use.
This is not a premature contract cancellation as the device was faulty from the start. My job card said the device was to be reset not replaced. Were the other devices maybe tampered with during this service? I don't know . I was sold a good contract, but the devices are not working. However, I am being intimidated by Vodacom employees to continue with the contract or face financial prejudice. Reporting this on Hello Peter is one way of fighting back. I am saying NO to bad after service delivery.

I am still awaiting your banking details to make payment for my existing phone contract. The information I was given at the Cresta service centre was incomplete. Does this centre do any good work? You have certainly wasted a lot of my time. I had to cancel all stop orders to Vodacom, because when I cancelled only the new contract that has now also been cancelled by you, you went and changed the amount of the stop order and claimed again. I had to cancel and return that again. It is quite ********* from Vodacom to do that and future clients should be warned not to sign stop orders with you. Please forvide me with your banking details - you will be paid on a monthly basis for the contract.

The Vodacom saga continues, I have had calls telling me the contract has been cancelled and the lines that I did not ask for closed, but apparently this has not happened. On the 14th of June 2017 - see correspondence line above, I was told the problem has been resolved. It has not.
I spoke to Aphiwe Silimela and he said he would resolve the problem I must not go back and report it on Hellopeter. The reference for this call is ***. He said he would get back to me on Thursday 29 June 2017. He did, but said he had not received a response from whomever he had written to yet. I did not hear from him again.
I spoke to Tebogo Rajedi *** today, just to find out that I still have 3 cellphone lines on my name, two of which I never asked for, no contract has been cancelled and I am being billed for 3 lines.
At first I thought it was bad servce delivery, then I thought it was stupidity, now I think it is sheer malice for putting this on Hellopeter. Where is the resolution (i.e. the new contract was cancelled) that UW refers to above on the 14th of June 2017?

In my opinion Vodacom's rating has gone down to 1/5.

So today my line got cut off, this is after I had a long conversation with Tebogo Rajedi this morning trying to solve the problem. I went to the service centre in Cresta and while I was there I spoke to Vodacom customer care on my phone. They said they would reconnect my line if I pay the R 217 that was outstanding on this contract. I have never been unwilling to pay my existing contract. As I paid, the line was dropped and the phone was not reconnected. So it is sheer malice from the side of Vodacom and I have no other solution but to take the matter to the Small Claims Court tomorrow to resolve the issue. I also spoke to Nomsa at forensics and she was very helpful but unable to reconnect my line.

Everyone should be warned to only shop at Vodacom stores and not accept contracts over the phone. It has caused me a lot of suffering and despite many, many calls I have been unable to resolve the problem.

The Consumer Act 68 of 2008 allows for right to return goods and seek redress for unsatisfactory services . I have just spent 58 minutes on the phone to Excellent Seweke to no avail. Fruitless. Exploited and ignored. Problem still unsolved. So now it is the Consumer Council and the Small Claims Court. Vodacom is a company who does not respond to solve problem it just gets justified. You might as well speak to a wall.

Vodacom has now sent me a form to complete valid for 30 days, giving me an opportunity to have my phone reconnected. I have to sign a bank debit order and after Vodacom has already deducted monies from my account that they should not have done, I cannot give them that opportunity again. How is this for *********?
