Poor accounts management results in customer abuse
In February 2020 I tried to pay my Vodacom account at Checkers, where i usually pay my bills, and was told that my account was paid forward. I then proceeded to the nearest Vodacom branch to inquire about this, and was told that yes, my account was paid up and that I would have to resume payment in the next 4 months. As puzzled as I was I left Vodacom without paying them for the monthly 80GB. I went to Vodacom again in March to inquire what was going on on my account and was told to come back in June to make payment. I resumed payment on the account in June as agreed and, the amount on the system was R 121.23 which was paid by myself. In July I paid the normal amount of R 350
On the 11/08/20 I received an sms stating that I'm in arrears of R 1 454. 70, and that in order to avoid service interruptions I should pay this amount immediately. I called customer care to inquire and this was confirmed. They blocked my services on the 13/08/2020. When I asked to see a printout of the statement, I saw a number of unknown payments on my account, that were paid then reversed following the debacle. I was told that another customer had paid the money erroneously into my account, and that the payments were reversed, that is why I owe that much.
Vodacom accounts department is clearly negligent when it comes to keeping track of the payments, which begs the question, should the customer suffer and succumb to the effects of this negligence by having services suspended. They clearly failed to notify me and apologize about the error they made, instead they are giving me attitude citing poor payment record from my side, bear in mind that I have never missed a payment even after having to pay it in, because of another negligence symptom of deducting money from my bank account on the wrong date, other than the one stipulated on the application forms.
Vodacom also takes away unused data by the next cycle of the month when they have to reload the data. My question is, if I'm paying for it why should it be taken away simply because I didn't use it.
