Poor Account Handling... Charged R1711.01 for May 2017 whilst not even using the Vodacom sim since 26 April 2017!

To whom it may concern,

I have read a few reviews about the bad service from Vodacom and I sincerely hope they get their act together.

I have been a customer of Vodacom since 2001, and on 26 April 2017 and had my cellphone ******. Naturally the next morning I went to Vodacom in Cape Gate and had a sim swop done. I was dealing with a gentlemen named Jacques. Seeing as my 24 month contract was coming to an end at end of April, I asked him do downgrade me to the lowest "pay as you go" packege which they have availible without changing my number. I handed Jacques my ID card, he made a copy of it, wrote my cell number down on that copy and asked me to sign three times.

I'm only in the country for four months of the year as I am employed out of country, so for me to pay a monthly installement of R720 which I can not take full advantage of is a bit useless. I never bought a new phoned from Vodacom that day (27 April 2017) nor did I take out a new contract. I simply took the new sim card on which the sim swop was done and threw it in my bag, as I was flying out of country the following day.

Seeing as I work on a ship we buy simcards from the countries we are in and the vodacom simcard is still sealed in it's packaging. So with my phone being ****** on 26 April 2017 and me not even taking the new sim out of its packaging... I was charged R1711.01 for the month of May 2017!!!

I would like to know how this is possible??? I can understand if like previously I had a contract for 24 months of R720 per month, but this is more than dubble of my expeired contract!

I sent my brother a e-mail with signed (PDF) copies of my passport and ID, to find out and sort out what was going on. He went to Vodacom and was merely brushed off by saying "you're not the account holder we cannot help you"... would you like me to teleport to Vodacom??? This is ridiculous, because what is now going to happen next month? Emails have be sent to Vodacom's customer care and yet know response.

Hoepfully somebody can respond and assit me with what is going on and how I could've been charged so much for something that I didn't use.

Kind Regards,

Hanro de Wet
